Privacy Policy

morrowa. · Zhao Studio · Effective

Your days are personal. This policy explains how Zhao Studio (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information when you use the morrowa. mobile app, any available web version of the app, and our website at morrowa.zhao.co.nz.

Your privacy, at a glance.

Your events, notes, photos and Moments are stored on your device. We do not provide an app account or app-managed cloud sync. Some features do communicate with third parties: optional Unsplash photo search, purchase services where available, the services you choose for sharing or backup, and Cloudflare when you visit this website.

1. Your events and local data

morrowa. stores the content you create: event names, dates, notes, categories, countdown and anniversary settings, saved Moments, selected photos, reminders, and display preferences. These are stored locally using app preferences and JSON. An available web version uses your browser’s storage.

Custom backgrounds can include both a rendered crop/blur image and the pre-edit source so that you can edit them again. Photos selected for Moments are saved with those Moments. Cropping, blurring and rendering take place on your device. We do not send your local event content or selected personal photos to Zhao Studio, Unsplash or RevenueCat as part of those features.

Local app storage and manual backup files are not given additional encryption by morrowa. Access is subject to your device, operating system, browser and backup settings. Please avoid entering information that you do not want stored in those locations.

2. Photos, files and sharing

The app reads the image or backup file that you select through your operating system’s photo or file picker. It does not scan your whole photo library to build a profile. Photo access and saving an exported image may require permission, depending on your device and OS version. On older Android versions, limited storage permission may be needed to save a picture.

When you export a poster or Moment, morrowa. writes the image to the photo library or file destination that you choose. When you use sharing, the exported image is passed to the receiving app you select. A receiving app, recipient, synced photo library or file provider may upload or keep a copy under its own policies. Nothing is shared by us automatically.

3. Reminders, widgets and permissions

Reminders are scheduled locally with the operating system’s notification service; they are not sent through a developer-operated push notification service. The system receives the reminder time and event text needed to show a notification. Notification text may be visible on your lock screen or connected devices, depending on your settings.

Home-screen or lock-screen widgets copy selected event or Moment information and artwork into operating-system widget storage so that they can display it outside the app. Other people who can view your screen may see it. Remove widgets or change their content if you do not want this information displayed.

You can manage photo, notification and storage permissions in your device settings. Refusing or revoking a permission may prevent the corresponding feature from working. The app does not request your contacts, precise location, microphone access or an advertising identifier for these features.

4. Optional Unsplash photo search

If you open or use the Unsplash photo picker, the app sends photo search terms (including a default or selected search category) and an application API access key to Unsplash over HTTPS. Loading previews and downloading a selected image contact Unsplash’s image delivery services. Selecting a photo also calls Unsplash’s download-tracking endpoint as required for its photo service.

Unsplash and its delivery providers receive normal connection information such as your IP address, request time and the requested image or search. Your local event names, notes and personal photos are not included in these requests. You can avoid these requests by using bundled backgrounds, solid colours or your own selected photos instead.

5. Purchases and RevenueCat

In app versions and stores where purchases are configured, morrowa. uses RevenueCat and Google Play Billing to show purchase options, process and verify purchases, restore ownership and manage Pro entitlements. The purchase SDK can connect when the production app starts or refreshes ownership, even if you do not complete a purchase.

RevenueCat may process an SDK-generated anonymous app user identifier, purchase tokens or receipts, product identifiers, transaction and purchase-history details, entitlement status, app and SDK versions, platform/device and connection information, and locale or currency information. Showing RevenueCat purchase screens may also send paywall-view and interaction events. These records support purchase verification, restoration, entitlement management, fraud prevention and purchase-service reporting.

morrowa. does not pass your event content, photos or email address as RevenueCat customer attributes. Optional advertising/attribution identifier collection and SDK diagnostics are disabled in the current integration. An anonymous purchase-service identifier is still an identifier and should not be confused with “no data collection”. RevenueCat may keep customer information in its SDK cache on your device.

Google Play or the relevant store handles payment details under its own terms and privacy policy. Zhao Studio does not receive your full payment-card number. Deleting local app data or uninstalling the app does not delete the store’s transaction records, reverse a purchase, or necessarily delete RevenueCat’s records. See section 9 to request deletion of purchase-service data that we can identify and control.

6. Backups and device transfers

A manual backup creates a readable, unencrypted JSON file containing your events, Moments, images and preferences. You choose where it is saved. Restoring a backup reads the file you select and replaces the corresponding local app data. Treat a backup as personal information and keep it somewhere you trust.

morrowa. does not operate its own cloud-sync service. However, the current Android configuration does not disable operating-system auto-backup, and main iOS app preference data is not explicitly excluded from system backup. Your OS, device-transfer tools or account settings may therefore back up or transfer app data, including through a cloud provider. Files or photos saved to a synced destination can also be uploaded by that provider. We cannot determine from this website whether your device backup is enabled.

7. Support and this website

If you contact morrowa@zhao.co.nz, we receive your email address and the message, attachments and other information you choose to send. We use it to respond, investigate the issue or carry out your privacy request. App support actions open a draft only when you select them; logs and personal event/photo content are not automatically attached. Please do not send passwords, full card numbers or sensitive event information that is not needed for your enquiry.

This website and its downloads are delivered using Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes technical request information, which may include IP address, requested URL, request time, browser/device information and security-related information, to deliver, secure and operate the service. Security cookies or other protective measures may be used by Cloudflare as necessary for those purposes.

The website code does not include advertising trackers, third-party marketing pixels or a separate analytics SDK. The app does not include a separate general-purpose analytics or crash-reporting SDK. Purchase-service and paywall processing described in section 5 is separate from this statement. Our website does not read the events or photos stored in your app.

8. Use, disclosure and security

We use information only to provide the features described here, deliver and secure the website, manage purchases and entitlements, provide support, prevent abuse and meet applicable legal obligations. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.

Information is disclosed to the service providers described above where needed for those purposes, to the destinations you choose for export, sharing or backup, or where required by applicable law or a valid legal process. We may also disclose necessary information to protect users, investigate abuse or establish or defend legal rights. If the service is transferred to another operator, any transfer of personal information remains subject to applicable law and appropriate notice.

Network requests made by the app to Unsplash and purchase services use HTTPS. The website is intended to be served over HTTPS. Local storage and exported backups are not additionally encrypted by the app. No storage or transmission method can guarantee absolute security; use a device passcode and appropriate backup and sharing settings.

Cloudflare, RevenueCat, Unsplash, the app store and your chosen providers may process information in countries other than your own. Their privacy policies describe their processing and safeguards. Where applicable, we use service providers and transfer arrangements permitted by relevant data-protection law.

9. Retention, deletion and your choices

Local content stays on your device until you delete it in the app, replace it through a restore operation, clear the app/browser’s storage, or remove the app subject to your OS’s backup and retention behaviour. We do not have remote access to erase or recover your local events and photos. Remove related widgets and separately manage exported images, shared copies, backup files, device backups and synced destinations; deleting an event does not withdraw copies already exported or shared.

We keep support correspondence for as long as reasonably needed to answer your enquiry, follow up, resolve a dispute or meet legal obligations. Purchase and entitlement records may be retained by RevenueCat and the store for as long as needed to verify or restore ownership, prevent fraud, resolve payment disputes or satisfy legal/accounting obligations. Technical hosting and security information is retained according to the provider’s configuration, applicable policies and operational/legal needs. We do not promise that uninstalling the app deletes those third-party records.

To request access, correction or deletion of personal information held by us, including identifiable RevenueCat customer data, email morrowa@zhao.co.nz with the subject “morrowa. privacy request”. Describe your request and, for a purchase-related request, provide a purchase order reference or app-user reference if you have one. Do not send card details or passwords. We may ask for limited information to verify that the request relates to you, locate the correct record and avoid deleting someone else’s data. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.

Where we can identify a RevenueCat customer record, we can request or carry out deletion through RevenueCat, subject to required retention and the rights of others. Deleting a purchase-service record can affect purchase history or restoration. We will explain any information that must be retained and why. The store and independent providers control their own records, and requests for those records may need to be made directly to them. A privacy deletion request does not itself request or guarantee a refund.

morrowa. does not offer creation of a Zhao Studio app account, so there is no separate morrowa. account to close. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to object to processing, restrict processing, receive a copy, withdraw consent where processing relies on consent, or complain to your local privacy regulator. Contact us to exercise the rights that apply to you.

10. Children’s information

The app does not ask users to provide their age or build child profiles. We do not knowingly use children’s personal information for advertising. Parents and guardians should supervise any photo sharing, device backup or purchase activity. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us without appropriate permission, contact us so that we can investigate and take appropriate action, including deletion where required.

11. Changes and how to contact us

We may update this policy when the app, its service providers or applicable requirements change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version. If a change requires additional notice or consent, we will provide it as required rather than relying only on this page.

morrowa. is developed and operated by Zhao Studio. For questions about this policy or to make a privacy or data-deletion request, contact morrowa@zhao.co.nz. This policy also applies to earlier versions where the described feature is available; a feature that is not present or configured in your version does not run solely because it is described here.
